Tucker Named Human Resources Manager At Weyerhaeuser Pine Hill Operation

Ken Tucker has been named manager for human resources and training for Weyerhaeuser Company’s Pine Hill Operation.

 

Tucker previously served as director of training and development.  In that role he has been responsible for management of the operation’s training center, and instruction, curriculum and training program development for all Pine Hill employees.  His additional human resources duties will include recruitment and employment, personnel records, employee and labor relations, job evaluation, benefits administration and special projects.

 

Prior to coming to work at Weyerhaeuser in June of 2000, Tucker served as director of the Center for Forestry, Paper and Chemical Technology at Thomasville, which provides workforce development and training, technical assistance, technology transfer, and management consulting to business and industry throughout Alabama.  His work experience includes serving as director of human resources and special projects at Bryan Whitfield Hospital in Demopolis, associate professor of management and Small Business Institute director at the University of West Alabama, director of the Small Business Administration Resource Center in Birmingham, and branch manager for Rollins Inc. in Tuscaloosa.

 

Tucker holds a doctor of philosophy degree in higher education administration from the University of Alabama, a masters of business administration degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and a bachelor of arts degree in political science from the University of Alabama.  He lives in Demopolis with his wife, Mary, and four daughters.  He also serves as a Marengo County commissioner.

 

Weyerhaeuser’s Pine Hill Containerboard operation produces linerboard and corrugating medium ? the strong, brown paper used to manufacture shipping boxes.  Other Weyerhaeuser businesses at Pine Hill produce lumber and plywood, manage timberlands, and grow genetically improved tree seedlings.  The Pine Hill complex employs some 830 people and is Wilcox County’s largest employer.

 

Elsewhere in Alabama, Weyerhaeuser operates a lumber facility in Millport, a Bardcor packaging operation in Huntsville, a building materials service center in Tuscumbia, and a Trus Joist™ engineered wood products operation near Evergreen.
