(Los Angeles, Calif.) – Vulcan Materials Company (NYSE: VMC) announced today that sixteen asphalt plants in its Western Division have received the Diamond Achievement Commendation for Excellence in Hot Mix Asphalt Plant/Site Operations from the National Asphalt Pavement Association. The plants are located in California, Arizona and New Mexico.
The Diamond Achievement Commendation was created by the National Asphalt Pavement Association in 1999 to provide national recognition for hot mix asphalt production facilities that operate in an exemplary manner. The award recognizes excellence in plant appearance, permitting and regulatory compliance, environmental practices, operations, safety, and community relations. To be considered for the award, a company must first confirm that the plant is in compliance with federal regulations. The nomination process requires that a local public official, community association official, or neighbor review the application. More than 368 plant sites have achieved the Diamond Commendation since 1999.
Jim Smack, President of Vulcan's Western Division, said, "Vulcan Materials Company remains steadfast in its commitment to be a good corporate neighbor. We take tremendous pride in our exemplary asphalt operations and the dedicated team that sets and achieves high standards for regulatory compliance, clean operations, community involvement and environmental stewardship."
