WAUKESHA, Wis., November 2, 2004 --A USFilter employee team based in Waukesha, Wis., received a Siemens Caring Hands Community Excellence Manager’s Award this October for their work with a local not-for-profit organization.
USFilter Envirex Products employees received recognition for their work with the United Way of Waukesha County. In 2003, employees donated thousands of dollars through year-long activities like lunch raffles, casual week and bake sales. United Way in Waukesha County, through their partner agencies, funds 85 health and human service programs. Funds support four impact areas: meeting basic needs, increasing self-sufficiency, strengthening families and helping kids succeed.
Sponsored by the Siemens Caring Hands Foundation, the Community Excellence Awards present an opportunity to recognize teams of three or more Siemens employee volunteers who undertake outstanding and innovative community service projects. In addition to the recognition of each team's effort, the Award also includes a cash grant of $500 to the charity selected by the recognized team. The Waukesha employee team was one of three USFilter employee teams to receive the Manager's award.
The Caring Hands Community Excellence Awards are part of a company wide corporate citizenship program that provides opportunities for Siemens operating companies and their employees to be involved with priorities of math, science and technology and community vitality.
The Caring Hands program is built on the premise that “one inspired person can make a difference . . . but together we can change the world.” Over the last two years, Siemens’ 70,000 American workers, together with its business partners, are working to become a formidable force for positive change, which is an extension of the company’s corporate principle to help create a better world as a responsible and good corporate citizen.
