TruServ Canada Unveils New Best Practice Program
Winnipeg - October 2004 - TruServ Canada unveiled their new "Best Practice store" program to their 600 Member base at the recent Fall Market.
The new program reflects TruServ Canada's retail focus and is designed to test ideas on all related areas of operating a retail store, measure the results and communicate the findings to the TruServ Canada Members.
"Our long term objective is to use this program to develop new tools, programs and ideas that will help our Members increase their ability to compete in today’s retail world," said Ray Falkenberg, Vice President, Sales, Operations & Member Relations. Three stores have been chosen to launch the program, one for each of TruServ Canada's National Banners, which are True Value Hardware, Country Depot and V&S stores. The True Value and V&S store recently completed their renovations and both held very successful "Renovation Sale" events in late September.
"We are very pleased with the results to date," said Falkenberg, noting that the Country Depot renovation will begin this month.
The Members had the opportunity to attend this market to coordinate their spring and summer product purchases. More than 500 major manufacturers showcased a wide selection of the season’s upcoming products as well as timely specials on everyday products. The dates for the Spring 2005 Market are April 17th to 19th, 2005 in the Winnipeg Convention Centre. TruServ Canada remains committed to the growth of a 100% retailer-owned, lowcost distribution and merchandising organization. Each of its banners, True Value Hardware, V&S Stores, and Country Depot support a core assortment of goods. This assortment positions its Members to compete with both rural and urban retailers. The head office is based in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
