Sherwin-Williams Opens 3,000th Store
(CLEVELAND – May 13, 2005) The Paint Stores Group reached a historic milestone on April 27th with the grand opening of its 3,000th store in Syosset, NY. The event was commemorated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new store, hosted by Chairman and CEO Chris Connor, President and COO Joe Scaminace and Paint Stores Group President John Morikis.
Also in attendance were Bob Wells, Vice President, Corporate Planning and Communications, Karl Schmitt, Paint Stores Group Senior Vice President of Marketing, Tim Drouilhet, Eastern Division President, Pete Ippolito, East Area Vice President of Sales, Mark Sposito, Eastern Division Vice President of Marketing, John Ferry, Eastern Division Manager-New Store Development, Jamie Biddell, Eastern Division Manager-Marketing Services, Dave Grignano, Metro New York District Manager, other members of the S-W management team, local dignitaries and media representatives.
To celebrate the event and to demonstrate the company’s commitment to being a good corporate partner in the Syosset community, Joe Scaminace presented a donation of $3,000 to the Syosset Public Library. Its director, Judy Lockman, accepted the donation and said that the money will be allocated to the library’s home improvement and decorating collection. “New businesses often come to the Syosset area, but when I received a call from Sherwin-Williams, I realized that this company was outstandingly different,” she said. “They weren’t just opening a store in our area; they were truly seeking to participate in our community and aid local organizations,” she added.
“We’re very proud to be part of this community, and delighted to serve its residents with quality paint and décor products and solid advice,” said Morikis. “Opening this store in Syosset represents a landmark for us, and we’re very proud of the dedication of the Sherwin-Williams employees who’ve helped make this day possible,” he added.
Chris Connor commented that the Syosset store is the culmination a long-standing dream of The Sherwin-Williams Company. He congratulated Store Manager Dennis Gagliano and his team on the outstanding job they did preparing the store for its opening. He added, “I wish Henry Sherwin could be here to see our 3,000th store. He would have been very proud.”
