Rite Aid Offers Solutions For Allergy Season
Rite Aid Introduces Comprehensive Program to Help Patients Minimize Allergy Symptoms
Camp Hill, PA (April 29, 2005) —Rite Aid announced today the launch of a new Allergy Initiative in all stores nationwide aimed to help customers find solutions to uncomfortable allergy symptoms through education, recommendations and tips to weather the season.
Starting May 1, all Rite Aid stores will be distributing an informational booklet that educates patients about allergies, what they are, how they are caused and how to treat them. The booklet helps customers determine the difference between allergy symptoms and symptoms of a common cold. Customers can find out why they are sneezing, suffering from a stuffy head or dry itchy skin, and how to treat those symptoms while learning that exposure to allergens can be greatly reduced by making a few changes around the house like washing bedding in water at least 130 degrees.
Rite Aid worked with the American Academy of Allergy Asthma & Immunology(AAAAI) to gather information to develop the eleven page guide that also gives recommendations for what over-the-counter allergy remedies work best for certain symptoms, informs patients about allergy questions to ask a doctor, and gives tips for allergy proofing your home. The booklet also contains valuable coupons for allergy relief products at Rite Aid.
“Rite Aid’s new Allergy Initiative is another way that we can offer solutions to our patients for dealing with everyday health questions,” said John Learish, senior vice president of marketing. “At Rite Aid we are committed to the health and wellness of our customers and we want our pharmacists to be personally involved in helping to find healthy solutions to live healthier lives.”
May is Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month and according to the AAAAI May is traditionally the height of the allergy season. Allergies are a body’s over-reaction to allergens, found commonly in the environment. Allergens include pollen, mold spores, animal dander, dust, food and drugs. Rite Aid pharmacists and Rite Aid’s allergy guide can help patients find out what is causing an uncomfortable allergic reaction and what the best way is to combat the symptoms.
Rite Aid’s Allergy Initiative is part of a yearlong commitment to patient health and wellness aimed to offer patients answers and guidance on health related topics such as diabetes management, vitamins and nutrition and heart health.
