Performance Food Group Announces Partnership to Assist Food Banks Across U.S.
CHICAGO, IL --- April 8, 2005 --- America’s Second Harvest – The Nation’s Food Bank Network announced today that Performance Food Group (PFG) is donating $500,000 over the next five years for hunger relief through a newly formed partnership to address one of our country’s most critical and solvable issues—hunger.
With more than 25 food service distribution facilities across the country, PFG’s partnership with America’s Second Harvest will assist food banks and food-rescue organizations serving thousands of families in need in many cities including, Richmond,
Atlanta, Dallas, Nashville, St. Louis, and Baltimore.
Performance Food Group will assist America’s Second Harvest by donating products, making financial contributions to support programs and establishing a volunteer program to help people in need. The company’s support will aid America’s Second Harvest in providing nutritious foods for families in need through local food banks, Kids Café programs, senior centers, child care centers, and other charitable organizations. To compliment PFG’s corporate commitment, associates from the company’s more than 30 operating locations will volunteer at local food banks across the country.
“This partnership will feed tens of thousands of people served by our food banks and food-rescue organizations," said Robert Forney, president and chief executive officer of America’s Second Harvest, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary as the nation’s largest hunger-relief organization. “The comprehensive nature of this partnership is unique in that it provides us with the three things that we need most to end hunger in our country: food, funds and volunteers,” added Forney.
