Peribit Boosts $978 Million McKee Foods WAN Capacity

Santa Clara, Calif.-- May 27, 2003—Peribit Networks, the global leader in bandwidth creation products that boost application performance, today announced that McKee Foods has purchased Peribit Sequence Reducer products to avoid a $90,000 network upgrade and at the same time, boost performance for their mission critical ERP traffic by reducing this traffic by 75%. The SR-50s increased existing network capacity by up to four times. McKee Foods estimates a 6 month return on investment (ROI) compared to purchasing additional network capacity.

“When I installed an SR-50 in profile mode on a mirrored switch port, the results were incredible,” said Bo Smith IS Group Manager at McKee Foods. “I immediately saw a four times increase on our capacity constrained Frame Relay links. I could now avoid a network upgrade that would cost more than $5,000 per month.” Smith added, “The installation of Peribit appliances in our network was straight forward. As an added bonus, the Peribit graphical traffic reports have now become essential to my daily monitoring of the network. We prefer to work with market leaders like Peribit because we find we get better quality and service. Peribit Sequence Reducers are world class and the company’s service and support have been flawless.”

Peribit Sequence Reducers were installed between the company’s headquarters and production and distribution facilities in Arkansas, Arizona and Virginia. Prior to the Peribit installation, company networks had become clogged with constantly increasing traffic from new warehouse management, payroll, HR and purchasing applications, as well as from the migration of legacy text applications to graphical user interfaces. McKee Foods evaluated router compression from Nortel and Cisco, but preferred a separate solution that gave them the freedom to separate their bandwidth optimization equipment from their network infrastructure. McKee Foods could change routers and leave the bandwidth optimization equipment in place. In addition, they found Peribit’s monitoring and reporting capabilities essential to their daily network monitoring and application performance evaluation activities.

“We continue to see companies like McKee Foods select Peribit over a network upgrade, router compression or other compression products,” said Jef Graham, President and CEO of Peribit Networks. “These companies choose Peribit because we offer a complete, whole product with the essential QoS, monitoring and reporting they need to run their networks. Peribit provides a way for IT groups to handle increasing traffic loads while maintaining or even reducing their ongoing monthly carrier expense.”
