Gordon Food Service Achieves HACCP Accreditation

Guelph, Ontario-- The Guelph Food Technology Centre (GFTC) is proud to announce that Gordon Food Services Milton, distribution centre has become the first distribution company in Canada to receive GFTC/AIBI HACCP Accreditation by using a new standard established by the Canadian Council of Grocery Distributors (CCGD) and the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers (CFIG).
This is a first for the industry and for the CCGD membership, says Frank Schreurs, GFTCs Manager of Auditing and Consulting Services. This pro-active approach to food safety demonstrates Gordon Food Services commitment to providing customers with rigorous Good Distribution Practices in the industry. This establishment is the first to become HACCP-accredited and to the CCGD and CFIG under the federal government Canadian Food Safety Adaptation Program (CFSAP).
The facility was certified by AIB International and Guelph Food Technology Centre after an extensive review of our warehouse facilities and food safety procedures, adds Chris Swartz, Director of Warehousing, Gordon Food Service. Working with AIB International and GFTC, we knew we would need to meet rigorous standards, and were proud to have achieved this important goal.
Justin Sherwood, CCGD, adds, GFS has been a leader in helping to develop the distribution food safety standard and has continued to show this leadership through the achievement of the GFTC/AIBI HACCP Accreditation. All of their employees should be proud of this accomplishment.
