Dot Transportation, Inc. Wins National Safety Award
WILLIAMSPORT, MARYLAND, October 10, 2003 – Dot Transportation, Inc. (DTI) garnered first place in the 2002 National Safety Contest sponsored by the American Trucking Associations and the ATA Safety & Loss Prevention Management Council. The council presented the award at its national conference in Jacksonville, Fla. on Oct. 1.
The award is based on the frequency of vehicle accidents per million miles traveled; DTI’s 0.38 per million frequency led its division of General Commodities Truckload/Line Haul, Between 50-100 million miles. DTI drivers logged nearly 52 million miles in 2002 with only 20 recordable accidents. “This award is a tribute to our drivers, whose professionalism and courtesy on the road is second to none,” said Scott Bowen, Manager of Transportation Safety.
DTI currently employs 552 full and part-time drivers and boasts a fleet of 500 trucks. It ranked 38th on the list of largest national private carriers in 2002, according to Transport Topics magazine.
