Mt. Sterling,  IL: Dot Foods, Inc., the nation's largest food redistribution company, announced today the formation of a privately held company called edotfoods.

The new company will manage the e-commerce initiatives of Dot Foods, including the Dot ExpresswaySM, and will develop the Dot Foods Virtual Warehouse and the Dot Foods Electronic Platform.

"Since 1996 we have offered the Dot ExpresswaySM to our foodservice distributor customers as a means of on-line pricing and product information. We want to continue to enhance this important tool and, by so doing, offer new and unique services," says Patrick F. Tracy, Dot Foods CEO.

According to Tracy, the Dot Foods Virtual Warehouse will allow a foodservice distributor to access on-line Dot’s inventoried product, thus expanding by as much as 400% the number of products the distributor offers without adding warehouse capacity. It will also offer fulfillment capabilities to enable distributors to complete the supply chain.

The Dot Foods Electronic Platform will allow Dot to communicate electronically with its 2,200 foodservice distributor customers. Dot will receive orders and requests for quotations electronically, as well as send automatic order confirmations, pricing updates and invoices.

"The reason for starting a separate company is so we can enjoy the financial and technical support of Dot Foods, while leveraging new technology and relationships quickly to create more efficient trading practices and service concepts,” says Tracy.  “By having people devoted exclusively to our e-commerce initiatives, we can move at the speed necessary to be successful in today’s digital age.”

The new company will have its headquarters in Chesterfield, Missouri.  Patrick F. Tracy will serve as the President of edotfoods and will continue as CEO of Dot Foods, Inc. Timothy M. Loyd is General Manager of edotfoods. Loyd has been employed by Dot Foods since 1987 and has served in various sales and marketing positions with the company.
