About Delhaize America

Incorporated in 1957 in Salisbury, North Carolina, Food Lion reorganized as a holding company, Delhaize America, in 1999 to promote flexibility in the management of each distinct banner. Kash n' Karry was acquired in December 1996 and Hannaford Bros. in July 2000.

On April 25, 2001, Delhaize America became a wholly owned subsidiary of Delhaize Group as a result of the Delhaize Group share exchange.

Delhaize America is now a leading supermarket operator in the United States with over 1,500 stores in 16 states in the eastern United States.

Delhaize America operates under the banners Food Lion, Hannaford Bros., Kash n' Karry and Harveys, each of which has a distinct strategy and a well-established brand image. Through its multiple banners, Delhaize America is able to target the needs and requirements of specific markets, customize its product and service offerings and maintain strong brand recognition with its local customers. Delhaize America employs approximately 105,000 full-time and part-time associates up and down the East Coast.
