Brattleboro, VT: May 21, 2004 - CC&S Wholesale Grocers, Inc. was recently recognized for its community involvement work and donations to eradicate hunger.

The company was honored with "Food Donor of the Year" awards in New York and in Washington, D.C. Awards were given by the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley in Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY (C&S facilities are located in nearby Newburgh, Chester, and Montgomery, NY) and by the Capital Area Food Bank (C&S subsidiary Collington Services is located in Upper Marlboro, MD).

Prior to awards ceremonies, officials from C&S toured both food banks in order to learn more about how donated food reaches people most in need.

Collectively, the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley and the Capital Area Food Bank supply food to over 1,000 soup kitchens, food pantries, youth and elder services groups, and community organizations to help feed hungry individuals and families. Both are members of America's Second Harvest, the nation's largest charitable hunger-relief organization representing 200 food banks and food-rescue organizations.
