Products Slated For The Qatar Liquefied Gas Company Limited (II) Plant Expansion

The Woodlands, TX – March 14, 2005 Chart Industries (OTCPK: CIDI) Energy and Chemicals Division received an order for multiple large brazed aluminum plate fin heat exchangers (BAHX) from Air Products and Chemicals Inc. The heat exchangers fulfill part of Air Products’ contract with Qatar Liquefied Gas Company Limited (II), (“Qatargas II”) a joint venture of Qatar Petroleum and ExxonMobil Qatargas (II) Limited, for the Qatargas II LNG (liquefied natural gas) Facility Expansion Project at Ras Laffan, Qatar which will tap Qatar’s North Field. The plate fin heat exchangers will be used in the nitrogen refrigeration system of Air Products’ new AP-XTM natural gas liquefaction process.

Qatar’s North Field is believed by energy experts to be the largest single non-associated gas field in the world. Discovered in 1971, the North Field holds 20% of the world’s proven gas reserves. Its proven reserves of recoverable non-associated gas exceed 900 trillion standard cu ft (TCF). The Qatargas II LNG Facility Expansion Project, due on-stream in 2008, will add significantly to the existing LNG production capacity from Qatar and will include the largest single train size of any LNG plant currently in operation or under construction anywhere in the world.

Chart Industries designs and manufactures aluminum plate fin heat exchangers for a variety of applications with maximum design pressures of up to 2300 psig. Shipment of the heat exchangers is planned for early 2005. Chart Heat Exchangers have a long and successful track record in the world’s most demanding applications. Technology acquisitions over the last twenty years, (including purchases of Altec, Marston, Process Systems International and CVI), have provided depth and breadth to Chart’s LNG equipment manufacturing capabilities.
