New Executive Vice President Supply Chain Logistics Appointed At Ahold USA

Daniel E. Currie, previously Executive Vice President of Operations at Giant Food Inc. of Landover, Maryland, has been promoted to Executive Vice President - Supply Chain Logistics, at Ahold USA, the parent company of Giant Food.

In the new position at Ahold USA, Mr. Currie will be responsible for the development and implementation of regional and national strategies designed to create economies across the supply chain. In addition, he will focus on the improvement of current logistic operating standards and methodologies resulting in improved service levels while reducing operating expense. As a new member of the Ahold USA executive group, Mr. Currie will lead the existing supply chain function in the development of comprehensive supply chain management practices.

Mr. Currie joined Giant Food in June of 1999 as Senior Vice President for Distribution and Transportation. He was promoted to Executive Vice President of Operations in February 2000 where he was responsible for Store Operations and Distribution. Mr. Currie has over 34 years of experience in food operations and distribution. Before joining Giant, he was employed by American Stores in the northern California Lucky stores division.

Mr. Currie lives with his family in Severna Park, Maryland.
