Giant Announces Next Phase of Integration With Stop & Shop Integration

Giant President and Chief Executive Officer Dick Baird and Stop & Shop President and CEO Marc Smith today announced the next phase of the integration of Ahold USA’s Giant of Landover and Stop & Shop headquarters operations.

The changes are part of the previously announced integration of Stop & Shop and Giant of Landover operations into a single administrative arena. Mr. Baird previously announced his decision to retire in July, 2004 after more than 30 years of service with Giant of Landover and Stop & Shop. Mr. Smith was named head of the combined organization in February, 2004.

“For customers, the good news is that your Giant will remain your Giant – with the same name and people running the stores and the same strong commitment to the community,” Mr. Baird noted.
