Production Facilities Achieve Millions of Safe Man Hours

Employees at the Wayne Farms LLC poultry facilities in Dobson, NC, Douglas, Ga., and Union Springs, Al., have achieved more than 12 million hours in no-lost-time this year; meaning that no employee has missed work because of an injury suffered on the job. 

The company references its many training programs, including crisis, workplace safety, hand hygiene and safety-area-auditing, as the contributing factor to the achievement.

“This achievement is a tribute to our workforce taking the time to do things correctly and follow safe practices,” said Guy Hinton, VP of Operations at Wayne Farms LLC.  “We consistently achieve these hours because our employees are dedicated to safety and quality at all levels of operation – from management to the line – it’s a testimony to the power of teamwork.” 

The accomplishment comes as more than 1,300,000 cases of lost-time due to an injury or illness were reported in the US in 2003 (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2003).
