CHICAGO -- O'Neal Steel Inc., a service center operator based in Birmingham, Ala., announced it has acquired Carolina Steel Corp.'s service centers in Greensboro and Wilson, NC., Lynchburg, Va., and Lexington, Ky., and its weldments operations in Roanoke and Abingdon, Va.
"We are pleased to expand our geographic reach with the addition of Carolina's service centers," said Max Dejonge. O'Neal's president and chief executive officer. "The weldment divisions also broaden our capabilities," he added.
The sale means Carolina Steel will get out of the metals distribution business to focus on its core fabrication business. which produces steel components for bridges, buildings and other large-scale construction products.
