Sitton Motor Lines Presents Shattered Dreams Program

Sitton Motor Lines will soon present a Shattered Dreams Program at Missouri Southern State University.  The Eta Upsilon Chapter of the Zeta Tau Alpha fraternity is sponsoring the event, scheduled for October 28.

Shattered Dreams is an extensive program that promotes responsible decision-making.  It is aptly named, as the events during each program emphasize the devastating results of drunk driving accidents.  The day begins with a car crash caused by a drunk driver.  This will be simulated in the parking lot of Hughes Stadium.  Some occupants of the vehicles will be fatally injured; others will be trapped inside.  Officers will then discover a "rolling meth lab" in one of the cars.  Later in the day, spectators can view a mock trial in the Billingsly Student Center.

Other scheduled activities include the Missouri Department of Transportation's Drunk Driving simulator go-cart.  The Sitton Motor Lines "No-Zone" truck demonstrates blind spots around tractor-trailers and buses.  Spectators can also try on drunk driving goggles, which allow them to experience the visual impairment of a drunk driver.

The Shattered Dreams presentation requires extensive planning by both school and community personnel in order to accomplish the goals of the program.  This is just one of the safety programs Sitton Motor Lines offers at no charge to the community.  Recently, the company expanded their public safety and education options.  Laszlo Laky, Public Safety Education and Media Relations Coordinator, has been certified as an Operation Lifesaver Presenter.  The program strives to educate the public about safety issues concerning railroad crossings.
